WILMINGTON, NC — Clair Huntsman, 87, passed away in Wilmington, NC on February 27, 2019. He was born August 22, 1931 to Cecil & Lorta Hunsman in Leipsic, Ohio. He married Emilie Wilkins on November 30, 1058. He is survived by his wife, Emilie; their three children, Brian Huntsman, Kris Exline, and Eric Huntsman; their five grandchildren, Matthew Huntsman, Andrew Huntsman, Tyler Huntsman, Erica Huntsman, and Erin Exline; his sister, Marcia Huntsman Kavanaugh; and five nieces & nephews, Cathy Mominee, Richard Spencer, Kelly Kavanaugh, John Kavanaugh, and Megan Cameron. He was precede in death by his parents; two infant children; his brother, David Huntsman, and his sister, Eula Spencer.

Clair graduated from Leipsic High School in 1949, followed by Ohio Northern University College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1954. He then served two years overseas in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he established his law practice in Leipsic. He served as Putnam County Court Judge for twenty-two years and an additional six years as Putnam County Probate/Juvenile Judge. He also was Leipsic Mayor in the early 1960s. He was a member of the Leipsic United Methodist Church.
