HAMLER — David W. Niese, 68, of
Hamler and formerly of Leipsic died 12:07 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019
at his residence. He was born October 8, 1950 to Ralph and Alice
(Fuerst) Niese. His father is deceased and his mother survives in
Leipsic. On April 29, 1977 he married Lois W. Shivley, who survives in
Hamler.
Also surviving are four children: Joel (Meagan) Niese of Bloomington,
IN, Alison (Aaron) Mayes of Celina, Amy (Michael) Thomas of Leipsic and
Jodi (Troy) Ellerbrock of Kalida; eight grandchildren: Sara, Isaac and
Xavier Niese, Justin Huston-Mayes; Zayden Thomas; Kellen and Eden
Ellerbrock and a granddaughter on the way; two great-grandchildren:
Crystal Huston-Mayes and a great-grandson on the way; two sisters: Diane
(Dan) Zeisloft of Leipsic and Doris (Duane) Karhoff of Ottawa; a
brother: Duane Niese of Leipsic; brother-in-law: Max Kemerer of
Hicksville and Marvin (Kaye) Shively of Hamler; and a sister-in-law:
Phyllis (David) Gulgin of Ottawa.
David is preceded in death by a sister: Phyllis Niese and a sister-in-law: Patricia Kemerer.
David
retired from the Village of Leipsic Water Department and attended
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Baveria. He loved woodworking and was a
carpenter for 15 years. He enjoyed making things for his family. He was
a member of the Leipsic Eagles and the A.W.W.A. He loved long drives
and taking the Amish on trips. His favorite times were spent with his
family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,
January 30, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Nick
Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Township Cemetery,
Hamler. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Love-Heitmeyer
Funeral Home, Leipsic.
