PANDORA — Jared Breece became the all-time leader in touchdown passes at Pandora-Gilboa two weeks ago.

Friday night the Rocket signal caller was on the other end of a touchdown pass. The seniors touchdown catch in the fourth quarter and the Rockets big defensive stand in the final minute helped P-G to a thrilling 19-14 Blanchard Valley Conference win over McComb.

The eighth ranked Rockets moved to the top of the BVC standings at 5-0 and they are 7-0 overall, while the number one ranked Panthers slipped to 4-1 in the BVC and 6-1 overall.

Down a point midway through the final quarter, the Rockets took possession of the ball at their own 34 after a McComb punt. P-G quickly moved down field as Breece found Riley Larcom for 30 yards to the Panther 36. On the next play, Breece flipped the ball to a wide receiver cutting across the formation, who then flipped the ball to Silas Schmenk. Schmenk threw the ball in the direction of a wide open Breece down the right sideline. Breece caught the ball about the 10 yard line, then muscled his way into the endzone with 4:33 left. A two-point conversion pass fell incomplete giving the Rockets a 19-14 lead.

On the kickoff, the Panthers got a big break when Robert O'Dell picked up a short kick and returned it to the P-G 36 before he was knocked out of bounds.

On the first play of their drive, the Panthers got a break when P-G was called for a five yard facemask penalty after a running play lost four yards. On the next play, McComb was not as fortunate as they were called for holding giving them a first and 27 to overcome. O'Dell came up big again for the Panthers catching a pass that covered 28 yards to the Rocket 24.

Two runs moved the ball to the P-G nine giving the Panthers a first and goal. Three running plays netted five yards giving the Panthers a fourth and goal from the four. After both teams used a timeout, McComb quarterback Tanner Schroeder lofted a pass towards the left corner of the endzone for O'Dell. The pass was just out of the reach of O'Dell falling incomplete handing the ball back over the Rockets. P-G ran two plays to run out the clock.

The Rockets took a quick 7-0 lead as they scored on their first possession as Peyton Traxler scored on a one yard run. Defense dominated the rest of the opening half as both teams had trouble moving the ball, The Rockets had a chance to score again in the second quarter as they drove to the Panther 10 yard line. The Panther defense came up with a big sack on a second down play and when a third down pass fell incomplete the Rockets attempted a field goal that was wide left.

After not getting much offense going the first half, the Panthers scored on their first possession of the third quarter as they went 88 yards in seven plays as the big play was a halfback pass from Tyler Durfey to O'Dell for 45 yards. A facemask penalty moved the ball to the Rocket six. Three plays later Jacob Dillon scored on a three yard run to help tie the game at 7-7.

On the Rockets next possession, Durfey intercepted a Breece pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown. With the extra point, the Panthers had a 14-7 lead.

The Rockets answered back with an 80 yard scoring drive as Larcom caught a 25 yard pass from Breece with 42 seconds left in the quarter. The Rockets went for two on the play, but were unsuccessful leaving them down a point.
