BLUFFTON — Columbus Grove pulled away from Bluffton over the middle two quarters Friday night to claim a 49-43 Northwest Conference win.

The win moves the Bulldogs to 4-0 in the NWC and 10-4 overall, while the Pirates are 3-2 in the NWC and 10-4 overall.

After both teams scored 13 points, Columbus Grove outscored the Pirates 11-8 in both the second and third quarters for a 35-29 lead. In the fourth quarter both teams scored 14 points for the final score.

Evan Hopkins paced the Bulldogs with 13 points and Grayson Flores added 12 points. Tayt Birnesser added 10 points to the Grove win.

Jared Piercefield led the Pirates with 16 points and Luke Denecker added 14 points.

Columbus Grove also won the junior varsity game.

Fort Jennings 37

OTTOVILLE — Ottoville put together a strong finish Friday night to defeat Putnam County League rival Fort Jennings 51-37.

The Big Green had a 34-33 lead after three quarters before outscoring the Musketeers 17-4 in the fourth quarter for the win. Ottoville had a 27-19 halftime lead before Ft. Jennings rallied in the third quarter with a 14-7 scoring advantage.

Josh Thorbahn had a big night for the Big Green (3-1, 13-3) with 30 points and Kyle Manns added nine points and he grabbed seven rebounds. Drew Fisher pulled down six rebounds for Ottoville.

Ian Ricker paced the Musketeers (0-4, 2-12) with 11 points.

Van Buren 61

Pandora-Gilboa 51

PANDORA — Van Buren knocked Pandora-Gilboa out of a first place tie in the Blanchard Valley Conference standings with a 61-51 win Friday night.

Four teams entered BVC play Friday night tied atop the conference standings at 5-1. After play Friday night, the Black Knights moved to 6-1 in the league and 9-4 overall, while P-G dropped to 5-2 in the league and 8-6 overall.

Walker Macke paced the Rockets with 17 points, while Riley Larcom and Jared Breece both had 11 points.

Leipsic 52

McComb 47

LEIPSIC — Leipsic outscored McComb over the first three quarters Friday night to claim a 52-47 Blanchard Valley Conference win.

The Vikings had a 15-13 lead after the opening quarter and were up 27-22 at halftime. A 10-6 run in the third quarter gave them a 37-28 lead before McComb outscored them 19-15 in the fourth quarter.

Dylan Schroeder had a big night for the Vikings (5-2, 7-6) with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Tyler Hiegel added 12 points and had four assists and Cole Rieman led the team with seven assists.

Tyler Durfey led the Panthers (3-2, 3-7) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Aaron Davis added 11 points with seven rebounds and Tanner Schroeder scored 10 points.
