HOLGATE — Kalida turned in a good defensive effort Monday evening to defeat Holgate 42-19 in non-league girls basketball action.

The Ladycats never allowed the Tigers more than five points in a quarter as they forced 27 turnovers and held them to a 7-of-24 night shooting the basketball.

Kalida jumped out to a 17-4 first quarter lead on Holgate and were up 30-9 at halftime. Both teams struggled offensively in the second half as Kalida outscored the Tigers 12-10.

McKayla Maag paced the Ladycats (12-7) with 14 points and Grace Klausing had eight points, three assists and six steals along with four rebounds. Brooke Vennekotter grabbed seven rebounds for Kalida and Brenna Smith had four steals as the Ladycats had 16 for the game.

Reana Williett led Holgate (2-16) with seven points and Justine Eis grabbed four rebounds.

Lincolnview 38

FORT JENNINGS — Fort Jennings used a second half scoring advantage Monday evening to defeat Lincolnview 45-38 in non-league action.

The Musketeers had a slight 19-18 halftime lead before outscoring the Lancers 26-20 in the second half. Fort Jennings pushed their lead to four points at the end of the three quarters with a 12-9 third quarter scoring advantage, then used a 14-11 fourth quarter scoring margin for the win.

Kristen Luersman paced the Musketeers (4-16) with 20 points as she hit 10-of-11 free throws. Fort Jennings was 16-of-23 at the free throw line in the game compared to an 8-of-12 night for the Lancers.

Jessie Foust finished with 14 points and Chloe Wieging grabbed eight rebounds for Fort Jennings.

Kendall Bollenbacher paced the Lancers (2-17) with 12 points and Annie Mendenhall added 11 points.
