OTTOVILLE — Ottoville turned in a solid defensive performance Friday night as the Big Green opened the season with a 69-22 win over Lima Temple Christian.

The Big Green never allowed the Pioneers to reach double digits in a quarter in the lopsided season opening win.

Ottoville had a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and were up 33-9 at halftime after a 19-3 run in the second quarter. The Big Green broke the game wide open in the third quarter with a 20-5 scoring run before the reserves finished the game outscoring Temple Christian 16-8.

Joshua Thorbahn had 17 points and six rebounds for the Big Green and Kyle Manns had 14 points. Grant Kortokrax pulled down eight rebounds for the Big Green.

Preston Patrick scored 11 points for the Pioneers.

Arlington 72

Fort Jennings 53

ARLINGTON — Arlington turned in a consistent performance Friday night to defeat Fort Jennings 72-53 in the season opener for both teams.

The Red Devils had a 21-19 lead after the opening quarter before Arlington outscored the Musketeers 19-5 in the second quarter for a 40-24 halftime lead. The Red Devils outscored Fort Jennings 32-29 in the second half to complete the win.

Zavier Thornton hit six three-pointers for Arlington to lead them with 18 points and Bryce Gast hit five three-pointers to finish with 17 points. Jaret Vermillion reached double digits as he had 15 points. The Red Devils hit 14 three-pointers in the game compared to eight for the Musketeers.

Evan Hoersten led Fort Jennings and all scorers with 19 points. Zach Schulte hit five three-pointers for the Musketeers as he finished with 15 points.

Paulding 48

Continental 40

PAULDING — Paulding turned up their defensive pressure in the middle two quarters Friday night to claim a 48-40 season opening win from Continental.

The Panthers had a 14-11 lead after the first quarter before outscoring the Pirates 24-13 in the middle two quarters. Paulding outscored Continental 14-7 in the second quarter and 10-6 in the third quarter. The Pirates cut into the Panther lead with a 16-10 fourth quarter scoring run.

Seth Dysinger had 12 points to lead Paulding and Payton Beckman had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Mitch Coleman had 14 points to lead the Pirates, while Gavin Huff and Andrew Hoeffel both had eight points.

Paulding won the junior varsity contest 45-25.
