TIFFIN — Columbus Grove's boys cross country team turned in another excellent performance Saturday at the Tiffin Carnival Cross Country Invitational.

The Bulldogs finished second in the boys Division III race with 175 points. Mount Gilead won the Division III race with 96 points and West Liberty Salem was third with 190 points.

Johnny Schmiedebusch paced the Grove boys with a 19th place finish in 17:00.1 and Grant Mumaugh was 22nd in 17:02. Caleb Stechschulte finished 36th in 17:25.8, Breece Pingle was 45th in 17:37.1 and Carson Closson was 53rd in 17:43.5..

On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs were sixth in the 54 team Division III varsity race with 316 points. Minster won the Division III team title with 53 points and Fort Loramie was second with 164 points.

Alyssa Ellerbrock led the Lady Bulldogs with a sixth place finish in 19:16.2. Erin Downing finished 23rd in 20:19, while Leanndra Price was 54th in 21:25.4, Morgan Deffenbaugh was 93rd in 22:15.1 and Zoe Stechschulte was 149th in 23:09.6.

In the boys Division II varsity, Ottawa-Glandorf finished 15th with 510 points. Parker Schomaeker finished 77th in 17:57.8 and Josh Rosengarten was 88th in 18:04.8. Connor Niese finished 107th in 18:23.3.

The O-G girls ran in the Division II B race finishing 24th with 640 points.

Maggie Rump led the Lady Titans with a 70th place finish in 23:14.6 and Allison Schroeder was 105th in 24:04.8.

In the boys Division III open race, Columbus Grove finished second with 52 points. Minster won the team title with 49 points.

Tayt Birnesser finished 12th for the Bulldogs in 19:27.1 and Roy Langhals was 15th in 19:38.

In the Division II open race, the Titan boys finished 25th. Matthew Schneed led the Titans with a 130th place finish in 21:02.8.
