FORT JENNINGS — Kalida answered a Fort Jennings rally with a run on their way to a 7-2 Putnam County League win Saturday afternoon.

The win allows the Wildcats to claim a share of the PCL title as they are 6-0 in the league and 14-2 overall. Kalida can claim an outright PCL title Tuesday night when they visit Columbus Grove. The Bulldogs have just one league loss going into this showdown.

Kalida jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning before the Musketeers tied the game in the bottom of the second. The Wildcats came right back with a run in their half of the third inning and continued to add to it scoring a run in the next four innings.

Josh Recker (4-1) picked up the win as he went four innings allowing two unearned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Tyler Klausing finished the game giving up one hit with five strikeouts.

Zach von der Embse had a single and double with two RBIs, Owen Recker had two singles and a double with an RBI and Ethan Schmenk had three singles and three RBIs. Josh Recker had a triple in the game for Kalida.

Zach Schulte took the loss for the Musketeers.

Columbus Grove 13

Continental 0

CONTINENTAL - Columbus Grove used a pair of big innings to defeat Continental 13-0 in Putnam County League action.

The Bulldogs move to 5-1 in the PCL, a game behind PCL leader Kalida. The Pirates dropped to 2-5 in the PCL.

Columbus Grove scored a run in the first inning before adding four runs in the third inning. The Bulldogs ended the game with a seven run fifth inning.

Nick Woods picked up the win for the Bulldogs as he pitched a five hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and a walk.

Woods had three hits in the game with an RBI and Brady Hauenstein had a single and double with four RBIs. Alex Schneider had a single and drove in two runs.

Cole Bowers had two hits for the Pirates.

Leipsic 5

Miller City 1

MILLER CITY - Leipsic used solid pitching Saturday afternoon to defeat Miller City 5-1 in Putnam County League action.

Tyler Hiegel and Dylan Schroeder combined to toss a four hitter for the Vikings. Schroeder picked up the win as he worked four scoreless innings giving up three hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Hiegel went the first three innings.

Leipsic grabbed the lead with a three run sixth inning.

Schroeder, Cole Rieman, Hiegel, DrewLiffick and Jaden Siefker all had a hit for the Vikings (3-3, 14-8).

Eli Ellerbrock took the loss for Miller City (4-2, 11-9) as he went three innings allowing four runs on five hits with three walks and a hit batter. Chase Kuhlman started the game for the Wildcats.

Kuhlman had two singles for Miller City in the game. Nick Gable and Connor Niese both had a hit in the game.
