KALIDA — Kalida used a third quarter surge Friday night to defeat Ottoville 57-32 in Putnam County League action.

The win moves the Wildcats to 5-0 in the league and 11-5 overall, while Ottoville slipped to 3-2 in the league and 13-4 overall.

Kalida had a 19-15 halftime lead before the Big Green tied the contest at 19-19. The Wildcats then went on a 14-0 run to take a 33-19 lead on their way to a 35-21 lead after three quarters. The Wildcats finished the game with a 22-11 fourth quarter scoring advantage.

Trevor Lambert had 19 points to lead the Wildcats, along with seven rebounds, and Luke Erhart had 16 points and six rebounds. Owen Recker had nine points and four assists and Grant Laudick pulled down a team high 12 rebounds.

Trae Schlagbaum hit two three-pointers to lead the Big Green with 11 points and Wade Miller had nine points.

Kalida still has Miller City (Feb. 8) and Continental (Feb. 15) to play in PCL action.

Ottawa-Glandorf 76

Defiance 54

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf grabbed an early lead and never looked back in handing Defiance a 76-54 Western Buckeye League loss.

With the win, O-G moves to 6-0 in the league and 13-2 overall.

The Titans grabbed a 20-7 first quarter lead and were up 39-20 at halftime. They added to their lead with a 19-16 third quarter scoring advantage.

Brennan Blevins paced the Titans with a game high 19 points as he knocked down five three-pointers. Owen Hiegel added 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Ben Westrick grabbed seven rebounds for the Titans as well.

The Titans shot well in the game as they were 29-of-51 (56 percent) from the floor, including a fine 12-of-21 from three-point range. Defiance was 20-of-48 shooting for the game.

O-G won the junior varsity game 67-39.

Miller City 59

Fort Jennings 46

MILLER CITY — Miller City held Fort Jennings to single digit scoring in two quarters Friday night on their way to a 59-46 Putnam County League win.

The Wildcats moved to 4-1 in the league, a game behind PCL leader Kalida, who they will visit next Friday. Miller City is 9-7 overall.

Miller City jumped out to a quick double digit lead outscoring the Musketeers 16-5 in the first quarter. After Ft. Jennings posted a 16-13 second quarter scoring edge to trail 29-21 at the half, the Wildcats used a 15-7 third quarter scoring edge to regain control of the game.

Luke Lammers paced the Wildcats with 19 points. Nick Gable added 11 points, while Isaac Fillinger and Jacon Koenig both had 10 points.

Ian Ricker had 14 points to lead the Musketeers.

Miller City won the junior varsity game 48-30.

Columbus Grove 68

Delphos Jefferson 46

DELPHOS — Columbus Grove grabbed an early lead Friday night on their way to a 68-46 Northwest Conference win over Delphos Jefferson.

The win moved the Bulldogs to 5-0 in the NWC and 11-4 overall, while the Wildcats slipped to 0-5 in the NWC and 1-14 overall.

Columbus Grove took control of this contest early outscoring the Wildcats 15-4 in the first quarter. A 17-14 run in the second quarter gave them a 32-18 halftime lead, which they protected as they outscored Jefferson in every quarter.

Blake Reynolds paced the Bulldogs with a game high 26 points and Tayt Birnesser added 17 points.

Ian Wannemacher paced the Wildcats with 17 points and Doug Long Jr. added 12 points.

Columbus Grove won the junior varsity game 58-42.
