ARLINGTON — Kalida overcame a pair of Arlington home runs Thursday afternoon to record a 10-5 non-league win.

The Red Devils had a 5-3 lead after three innings on the strength of a Brayden Bushong two run shot in the first inning and a three run blast by Caden Laffery in the third inning.

Arlington's lead held up until the fifth when the Wildcats scored three times for a 6-5 lead. Kalida added two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings for the win.

David Peck (1-0) picked up the win for Kalida as he went 4 1/3 innings in field not allowing a run on two hits with four strikeouts.

Peck also had three singles in the game for Kalida (7-0) and two RBIs. Owen Recker had a single and double with two RBIs and Trevor Lambert had a double and drove in two runs. Ethan Schmenk had two RBIs and Josh Recker had a single and double.

Lincolnview 4

Columbus Grove 0

COLUMBUS GROVE — Lincolnview pitcher Jaden Youtsey kept the Columbus Grove bats quiet Thursday afternoon as the Lancers claimed a 4-0 Northwest Conference win.

Youtsey tossed a two-hit shutout as he threw just 89 pitches in going the distance. He struck out eight Bulldogs and walked one.

Youtsey had a no hitter for  4 2/3 innings before the Bulldogs Brady Rudail broke it up with a single to center. Kurt Griffith followed with a single to right only to see Rusasil thrown out trying to advance to third base.

The Lancers took the lead in the first inning with a run and added a run in the fifth. Lincolnview added two insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Ethan Kemler had two hits and an RBI for the Lancers (12-1) and Gavin Carter had an hit and RBI.

Alex Schneider took the loss for Grove as he went five innings and Tayt Birnesser finished the game.

Liberty-Benton 1

Miller City 0

MILLER CITY — Liberty-Benton scored an unearned run to claim a pitchers duel from Miller City 1-0 Thursday in non-league action.

The only run of the game was scored in the second inning as the two teams combined for five total hits.

Cole Busch picked up the win for the Eagles as he went 4 2/3 innings not allowing a run on one hit. Griffin Snider finished the game earning a save.

Jack Slezak had the lone RBI in the game. Kaden Ebert, Snider and Elliott Veenstra had the Eagle (11-1) hits.

Eli Ellerbrock took the loss for the Wildcats (4-4) as he went the distance allowing an unearned run on three hits with a strikeout and a walk.

Jacob Koenig and TJ Michel had singles for Miller City.

 

McComb 7

Continental 5

CONTINENTAL — McComb used a big fourth inning to defeat Continental 7-5 in non-league action Thursday.

WIth the contest tied 1-1, the Panthers scored five times in the fourth inning for the lead. Continental came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning but would get no closer.

Gannon Prowant (0-2) took the loss for the Pirates (1-6). Prowant and Blake Elkins led the Pirate offense.

Bath 9

Ottawa-Glandorf 5

BATH TWP. — Bath used a big fourth inning to defeat Ottawa-Glandorf 9-5 in Western Buckeye League action Thursday night. This game was moved from Friday to Thursday because of weather concerns.

The Titans had a 2-1 lead going to the bottom of the fourth when the Wildcats scored five times. Bath added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Titans finished the game with three runs in the seventh.
