SHAWNEE TWP. - Columbus Grove's girls basketball came out firing in their season opener Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs hit 14 three-pointers against Shawnee as they defeated the Indians 67-49 in non-league action. The Bulldogs are 1-0 and the Indians 1-1.

Columbus Grove was 14-of-29 from three-point range against the Indians for 48 percent from behind the arc as they were 24-of-51 overall from the field in the game.

Kenzie King hit five three-pointers in the win as she finished with 20 points and Savanah Ridenour hit four three-pointers as she also had 20 points. ABbu Gladwell hir four three's as she had 14 points and Erin Downing had a three as she had 11 points.

The Bulldogs and Indians were tied 15-15 after the first quarter before they went on 27-13 scoring run in the second quarter for a 42-28 halftime lead. Columbus Grove added to their lead with a 13-7 third quarter scoring run.

Kam Utendorf pulled down five rebounds and had five assists for Grove, while King had five assists and four steals. Downing came up with six steals in the game.

Columbus Grove won the junior varsity contest 50-23.

Kalida 31

KALIDA - St. Marys put a damper on Kalida's home opener with a 50-31 non-league win.

Kendall Dieringer paced the Roughriders with 11 points and Carly Caywood had 10 points.

Grace Klausing paced Kalida (0-2) with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Carlie Rampe added eight points to the Kalida total.
