LEIPSIC — Last season Leipsic had to beat Arlington to make the playoffs. They did that in dramatic fashion.

This time around the Vikings didn't have to worry about making the playoffs as they were assured a first round home. However, the Vikings didn't let up as they rolled to an early lead in a 30-7 Blanchard Valley Conference win over the Red Devils.

With the win the Vikings finish 6-1 in the BVC, good for second place behind Liberty-Benton, and 9-1 overall. The win assures the Vikings of a first round home game and the number one seed in Division VII, Region 26. The Red Devils finished 7-3 on the season.

The Vikings got off to a good start as they scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns. Juan Pena opened the scoring with a six yard run and later Fabian Pena caught a 30 yard pass from Drew Liffick for a 13-0 lead.

Leipsic would take a 16-0 lead into halftime as Juan Pena kicked a 25 yard field goal in the second quarter.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Vikings scored twice in the fourth quarter as Juan Pena scored on a four yard run and Lorenzo Walther scored on a 42 yard run.

The Red Devils avoided the shut out as Connor Foust scored on a 75 yard run.

Leipsic's defense had a solid night as they allowed the Red Devils just 147 yards of total offense, as half of that came on one play. The Vikings also recovered four Arlington fumbles in the game.

Liffick was 9-of-18 passing in the game for 163 yards as Tyler Sickmiller caught three passes for 68 yards and Fabian Pena caught two passes for 49 yards. Walther rushed for 81 yards in the game and Juan Pena had 77 yards and two scores.

Foust carried the ball five times for 87 yards for the Red Devils.
