ELIDA - Leipsic overcame a 2-1 deficit Thursday evening to defeat Arlington 25-19, 25-27, 23-25. 25-12. 15-5 in a Division IV regional semi-final at the Elida Fieldhouse.

The win sends the Vikings (25-2) to the regional finals Saturday at 2 p.m. against Tiffin Calvert (23-3) at Elida for a trip to state. Calvert defeated Ayersville in three sets in the second matchup Thursday night.

Leipsic got off to a good start taking a 13-6 lead in the first set. The Red Devils battled back pulling within 19-15 before the Vikings stopped their run and eventually pulled out the win on a Hayley Heitmeyer kill.

The second and third sets were very similar as the two squads battled back and forth with the two sets being decided late.

In the second set, the Vikings had a 23-21 late before Arlington battled back to the tie set at 23-23 and 24-24. A Brooke Brown kill gave Leipsic a 25-24 lead. A Hannah Willow block tied the set and after  Vikings attack sailed wide, a WIllow kill tied the match at 1-1.

In the third set, the Red Devils led early before the Vikings rallied and were able to hold the lead for the much of the set. Leipsic was up 23-22 after a Heitmeyer kill. However, the Red Devils scored the final three points as Jenna Pepple had a pair of kills to close out the win.

In the fourth set, the Red Devils had a 6-4 lead before Leipsic ran off 10 straight points for a 14-6 lead. Heitmeyer served up three aces in the run and Carlee Siefker had a pair of kills to help the Vikings to the lead. Arlington stopped the run and scored three straight points as Pepple and Sarah Solt had kills. A service error returned the serve to Leipsic and they scored five straight points as Siefker had a pair of kills to help the Vikings to a 20-9 lead. The Red Devils were unable to recover as a Heitmeyer kill tied the match at 2-2.

In the fifth and deciding set, the Vikings scored the first two points as Brown had a kill to put Leipsic in charge. The Vikings jumped out to a 5-1 lead as Heitmeyer had two kills and Siefker one. The Red Devils were unable to break the Vikings momentum as they never scored more than a point at a time. A lift call on the Red Devils had the Vikings at match point and they were able to close out the win.
