LEIPSIC — Leipsic survived a pair of late shot attempts by Delphos St. John’s Wednesday night to claim a 49-48 Division IV sectional semi-final win.

The win sends the Vikings to the Division IV sectional finals Saturday night at Miller City.

Leipsic trailed 34-33 going to the fourth quarter before outscoring the Blue Jays 16-14 in the final quarter. The Vikings took a one point lead with 33 seconds left on a free throw by Ava Henry, then survived two attempts by St. John’s in the final 20 seconds to win the game.

Sophomore Abby Haselman, getting her first start for the injured Liz Scheckelhoff, scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Leipsic. Whitney Langhals added 15 points and Henry had seven points with eight rebounds.

Paige Gaynier led the Blue Jays with a game high 21 points.


Ottoville 66

Pettisville 17

OTTOVILLE — Ottoville jumped out to a quick lead Wednesday night in pounding Pettisville 66-17 in a Division IV sectional semi-final game.

The third seededBig Green will host Antwerp in a Division IV sectional semi-final game Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Big Green had a 19-5 lead after the opening quarter before breaking the game wide open in the second quarter with a 26-8 scoring advantage for a 45-13 halftime lead.

Nicole Knippen led the Big Green with 24 points as she dropped in four three-pointers. Elise Kramer added 17 points as just five Ottoville players scored in the game.

Alli King had seven points for the Black Birds.


Miller City 42

Patrick Henry 16

MILLER CITY — Miller City blanked Patrick Henry in the opening quarter Wednesday night to claim a 42-16 Division IV sectional semi-final win.

The Wildcats (14-8) will host Leipsic Saturday at 7 p.m. in a sectional final contest.

Miller City blanked the Patriots in the opening quarter 9-0 and they were up 18-2 at halftime. The Wildcats secured the win with a 19-6 third quarter scoring advantage.

Abi Lammers paced the Wildcats with 16 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Natalie Koenig added 13 points with three assists.


Continental 56

Arlington 37

CONTINENTAL — Continental used a solid third quarter Wednesday night to defeat Arlington in a Division IV sectional semi-final game.

The Pirates (7-14) advance to face second seeded Kalida Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the sectional finals.

Continental had a 27-22 halftime lead before outscoring the Red Devils 15-2 in the third quarter.

Cate Etter led the Pirates with 18 points and Maddie Burke added 14 points.


Holgate 52

Fort Jennings 26

HOLGATE — Holgate grabbed the early lead Wednesday night on their way to a 52-26 Division IV sectional semi-final win over Fort Jennings.

The Tigers advance to play top seeded Columbus Grove Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Tigers had a 15-8 lead after one quarter and were up 25-15 at halftime.

Justine Eis led the Tigers (8-14) with18 points and Lexa Schuller added 14 points.

Jessie Foust, Reilly Fitzpatrick and Rachel Von Sossan all had eight points for the Musketeers (1-22).
