MILLER CITY — Ottawa-Glandorf and Miller City will square off today in Miller City for an ACME Sectional championship in the South Bracket.

The Titans and Wildcats advanced to the championship game with wins Saturday in the semi-finals of the District 2 South Bracket. The Titans defeated Ayersville 8-1 and Miller City rallied for a 7-6 walk-off win over Holgate in the second game. O-G and Miller City will meet at 1 p.m. today.

Kalida stayed alive in the South bracket with an 8-1 win over Patrick Henry Saturday morning at Miller City. The Wildcats will face Holgate at 3 p.m. at Miller City. Holgate stayed alive in the tournament with an 11-9 win over Ayersville in an elimination game Saturday afternoon.

Miller City had their work cut out for them Saturday afternoon after the Tigers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead as they scored five times in the top of the first inning.

The Wildcats chipped away at the Holgate lead with single runs in the first and third innings. After the game was delayed by a thunderstorm and eventually moved to the drier confines at Miller City, the Wildcats tied the game in their half of the fourth inning on an error, wild pitch and RBI ground out by Austin Ruhe.

Miller City took the lead in the fifth inning as Ezra Deitering singled, stole second base, took third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI ground out by Eli Ellerbrock.

Holgate tied the game in the top of the seventh as Hunter Gerschutz walked and stole second base. After he took third base on a fly out to right field, he scored on a single to center field.

In the bottom of the inning, with one out, TJ Michel tripled to give the Wildcats a runner at third base. He scored on a single to right by Caleb Giesken.

Michel was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats as he worked 6 1/3 innings in relief of starter Tyler Long. Ruhe and Jake Koenig both had two hits for Miller City in the win.

Ottawa-Glandorf rode the pitching of Brayden Buckland Saturday morning to an 8-1 win over Ayersville in the semi-finals of the District 2 South bracket.

Buckland pitched seven strong inning for the Titans allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks. The Pilots scored their lone of the game in the fourth inning as Caden Craft doubled and scored on a pair of ground outs.

Buckland was supported by some early runs as the Titans scored a run in the bottom of the first inning on a Logan Miller infield single. O-G added a run in the second inning on an RBI single by Grant Hovest before scoring twice in the third inning on a Jake Balbaugh RBI triple and a double steal. The Titans broke the game open in the sixth inning with four runs as Carter Schimmoeller had a two run single. Balbaugh and Jarret Johns both had an RBI single in the inning.

Johns and Miller both had two hits in the game with an RBI and Maag had two hits.

Kalida 8

Patrick Henry 1

Kalida scored in the first five inning as they bounced back from a Friday night loss to defeat Patrick Henry 8-1 in an elimination game.

The Wildcats scored single runs in the first three innings before scored twice in the fourth inning. The Wildcats broke the game open with three runs in the fifth inning.

Patrick Henry scored their lone run in the sixth inning.

Tyler Klausing picked up the win for Kalida as he allowed an unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

David Peck, Noah Miller and Aiden Warnecke all had a single and RBI for Kalida.

Kolton Holloway took the loss for the Patriots as he worked four innings. Gage Seemann and Wil Morrow had the two Patriot hits.
