SIDNEY - Sidney scored a run in the fifth inning Monday evening to defeat the Ottawa Legion 3-2 in a seven inning game.

Sidney took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held that until the fourth inning when Post 63 tied the game at 2-2. Sidney scored a run in the fifth inning and held on for the win.

Post 63 had an opportunity to tie the game in the seventh as Mike Bowers reached on a wild pitch as he struck out. After a strikeout, Bowers stole second base before the second out of the inning was recorded. Cole Niese lined a single to center that Bowers attempted to score on. He was tagged out at the plate ending the game.

Justin Moore took the loss in relief as he allowed an unearned run on two hits. Brady Hauenstein started and went an inning and two-thirds allowing two runs on four hits.

Cole Niese had a pair of singles for Post 63 and Bowers had a single and RBI. Moore had an RBI for Ottawa as well. Post 63 had only four hits in the game as the Sidney pitcher had 10 strikeouts in the game and walked one.
