COLUMBUS GROVE — After a defensive minded first half, Columbus Grove’s offense came to life in the second half Friday night.

The Bulldogs and Patrick Henry were scoreless through 24 minutes of football before Grove’s offense found the endzone four times in the second half on their way to a 27-7 non-league win over the Patriots at Clymer Stadium.

Columbus Grove is now 1-2 on the season and the Patriots are winless at 0-3.

Garrett Nemire got the scoring going in the second half as he scored on a four yard run for a 6-0 lead Bulldog lead as the extra point failed. Nemire put the Bulldogs up 13-0 with 4:31 left in the quarter as he scored on a 10 yard run. The extra point try was good.

Patrick Henry pulled within 13-7 of Grove with 4:54 left when TJ Rhammy scored on a 12 yard run and the point after was good.

Columbus Grove quickly answered as Nemire scored his third touchdown of the night 52 seconds later on a 44 yard run making the score 20-7 with the extra point. Colin Metzger finished the scoring with a 40 yard run to the endzone with 2:27 left.

Nemire had a big night for the Bulldogs with 205 yards on the ground on 25 carries. Blake Reynolds was 4-of-7 passing for 39 yards as Trevor Taylor caught three passes for 28 yards. Columbus Grove had 316 yards of offense in the game.

Patrick Henry was held to 202 yards of offense as Rhammy was 8-of-20 passing for 83 yards with two interceptions and he rushed for 79 yards on 26 carries. Kolton Holloway caught three passes for 51 yards.
