DEFIANCE — After a poor second quarter, Defiance kept trying to overcome a double digit halftime lead.

The Bulldogs were on the brink of that as they pulled within a point of the fourth ranked Titans in the fourth quarter. That's where Defiance's comeback ended as the Titans used a pair of three-pointers to build a small cushion on their way to a 57-50 Western Buckeye League win.

Ottawa-Glandorf (6-1, 17-1) had a 13 point halftime lead at 33-20 after outscoring Defiance 19-6 in the second quarter. The Bulldogs made a run at the Titans in the third quarter before a pair of three-pointers by Will Lammers. That's where the O-G stood at after three quarters as they took a 39-33 lead to the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Titans were up 43-36 after an Owen Nichols basket. Lammers then connected for two three-pointers that pulled his team with 43-42 with 4:37 left. After a timeout by O-G, the Titans used a three-pointer by Parker Schomaeker and one by Brennan Blevins, after a Tyrell Goings basket for Defiance, that gave them a 49-44 lead.

Another Goings basket has Defiance within 49-46 before the Titans hit 6-of-8 free throws in the final 1;25 to secure the win. Their lone basket down the stretch was a putback by Ben Westrick, after a missed free throw, that extended their lead to six points at 52-46.

Westrick paced the Titans with 17 points, while Nichols, Schomaeker and Blevins all had 10 points.

Lammers led the Bulldogs and all scorers with 26 points as he hit six three-pointers in the game. Goings finished with 14 points.

Ottawa-Glandorf won the junior varsity game 51-44.

Columbus Grove 57

Delphos Jefferson 43

COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove stayed unbeaten in Northwest Conference action Friday night with a 57-43 win over Delphos Jefferson.

The top ranked Bulldogs moved to 6-0 in the conference and 18-0 overall.

Junior Blake Reynolds paced the Bulldogs with 27 points as he scored his 1,000th career point. Reynolds reached the 1,000 point mark in the first half of the game.

Kalida 54

Miller City 45

MILLER CITY — Kalida used a strong third quarter Friday night to claim a 54-45 Putnam County League win from Miller City.

Kalida trailed 19-17 at halftime before outscoring Miller City 37-26 in the second half. A 22-12 run by Kalida in the third quarter gave them the lead.

Luke Erhart paced Kalida with 16 points and seven rebounds. Zach von der Embse finished with 12 points.

Jacob Koenig had 15 points, on five three-pointers, for Miller City. Austin Ruhe added 10 points and Ross Niese had eight points and six rebounds.

Ottoville 58

Continental 21

CONTINENTAL — Ottoville held Continental to six first half points Friday night as they claimed a 58-21 Putnam County League win.

The Big Green had a 15-2 lead after the opening quarter before taking a 24-6 lead into halftime. Ottoville outscored the Pirates in the third and fourth quarters for the final score.

Josh Thorbahn had 16 points to lead the Big Green (16-3) and Ryan Suever added 10 points as 10 players scored for Ottoville in the win.

Reed Warnement had six points for the Pirates (4-15).

Continental won the junior varsity game 36-34.
