OTTAWA — Teams know Ottawa-Glandorf is going to come at them with a lot of defensive pressure. Handling that pressure, no matter how much you prepare for it, is a different story.

Van Wert was the latest team to try and solve the Titans pressure defense Thursday night.

While the Cougars prepared for the Titans pressure, they were unable to handle it as O-G used their defense to build an early lead in running oast Van Wert 78-35 in Western Buckeye League action.

With the win, fourth ranked O-G moved to 4-0 in the WBL, 12-1 overall, and sits atop the league alone after Defiance and Wapakoneta suffered losses Thursday night. Bath, Defiance and Wapakoneta are all 3-1 in league play.

The Titans pressure forced 44 Van Wert turnovers Thursday night. A handful of those turnovers came in the opening quarter as the Titans had a 20-6 lead after eight minutes. O-G continued that pressure into the second quarter as they had a 42-16 halftime lead and were up 65-24 after three quarters.

Senior Erin Kaufman led the Titans with 16 points and freshman Erin Kaufman added 15 points. Kasey Ellerbrock added 12 points as she hit four three's in the game.

Sierra Shaffer and Abby Jackson both had eight points for the Cougars.

Ottawa-Glandorf won a tightly contested junior varsity game 43-37.

Ottoville 62

Continental 26

OTTOVILLE — Ottoville jumped out to double digit lead early in defeating Continental 62-26 in Putnam County League action Thursday night.

The Big Green raced out to an 18-2 first quarter lead and never looked back as they were up 36-10 at halftime.

Kasey Knippen paced the Big Green with 15 points as she hit three three-pointers. Haley Hoersten added 11 points and Quinley Schlagbaum finished with eight points.

Kerri Prowant had 12 points to lead the Pirates.

Ottoville won the junior varsity game 25-4.

Spencerville 31

Columbus Grove 30

SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville hit a shot at the buzzer Thursday evening to defeat Columbus Grove 31-30 in Northwest Conference action.

With the Bulldogs leading 30-29 late in the contest, the Bearcats were able to get the ball to Alex Carter, who hit a short jumper for the win. The Bearcats outscored the Bulldogs 10-8 in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Spencerville (3-0, 9-2) had a 10-7 lead after one quarter, but trailed 18-14 at the half as Grove outscored them 11-4 in the second quarter. The Bearcats pulled within a point after three quarters with a 7-4 third quarter scoring advantage.

Carter led the Bearcats with 10 points.

Rylee Sybert paced the Bulldogs (3-1, 8-4) with eight points and Kenzie King added seven points with four steals. Angel Schneider pulled five rebounds for Grove.

Columbus Grove won the junior varsity game 41-19.

Arlington 84

Pandora-Gilboa 21

ARLINGTON — Arlington scored 23 points in each of the first three quarters on their way to an 84-21 Blanchard Valley Conference win over Pandora-Gilboa.

The Red Devils were up 23-4 after one quarter and 46-14 at halftime as they scored 23 points in both of the first two quarters. Arlington continued that 23 point streak into the third quarter as they outscored P-G 23-2.

Morgan Smith had 26 points and seven rebounds for the Red Devils and Jenna Pepple had 16 points and eight assists. Kylie Sheets added 12 points to the Arlington win.

Lacie Fenstermaker had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Rockets.

Leipsic 43

Riverdale 25

LEIPSIC — Leipsic held Riverdale to nine first half points on their way to a 43-25 Blanchard Valley Conference win Thursday night.

The Vikings were up 11-5 after one quarter and 20-9 at halftime. Leipsic continued to build their lead as they outscored the Falcons in every quarter.

Claire Rigel scored 19 points for the Vikings and Peyton Henry just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Liz Scheckelhoff pulled down 10 rebounds for Leipsic in the win.

Bry Vanden Bosch had eight points for the Falcons and Brooke Kuenzli had seven points.
