LEIPSIC — Leipsic scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns Friday night to defeat Spencerville 35-28 in non-league action.

The win improves the Vikings to 4-3 on the season.

Leipsic trailed 28-21 entering the fourth quarter as the Bearcats scored a pair of third quarter touchdowns. The Vikings tied the game when Lorenzo Walther scored on a 10 yard run. Walther capped off a big night when he scored on a 27 yard run for his fourth touchdown of the night to give the Vikings a 35-28 lead.

Spencerville had a chance to possibly tie the game late as they drove to the Leipsic five yard line. On fourth down and four from the five, Leipsic's defense sacked Bearcat quarterback Dalton Prichard to end the game.

Spencerville got on the scoreboard first when Prichard hit Cody Bockey with a 10 yard scoring pass in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Vikings answered back with two first quarter scores as Dillan Niese scored on a nine yard run and Walther added a nine yard scoring run.

Walther pushed the Viking lead to 21-7 in the second quarter with a seven yard scoring run. The Bearcats made it a 21-13 game when Gunner Grigsby scored on a four yard run in the second quarter, which would be the halftime score. The Bearcats tied the game early in the third quarter when Dale Smith scored on a 56 yard run and Grigsby added a two point run. Spencerville took the lead on a Grigsby two yard run later in the quarter.

Walther led the Vikings with 153 rushing yards and he caught two passes for 62 yards. Niese added 110 yards rushing on 17 carries and was 9-of-17 passing for 171 yards with two picks. Trent Siefker caught four passes for 41 yards.

Leipsic rushed for 281 yards in the game, while Spencerville rushed for 276 yards.

Grigsby finished with 110 yards rushing on 24 carries and Smith had 105 yards. Prichard was 1-of-5 passing for 10 yards.
